Fall

As we get into fall we celebrate many MANY birthdays in our family. The most important though being Duane's on the 29th of October. This year we are taking a vacation to celebrate his birthday in San Diego... of course a Disneyland trip is included! I'm sure pics will follow.

I did however wanted to update since I hadn't since July. Scarlett on July 2nd got very very sick. We took her in and found out she had Parvo. She went down from 26 lbs to 19 in a week. She had to be hospitalized for a week (Hardest week I've had to deal with in a long time). Below is a pic the day she got back from the hospital:


Well now she is a Parvo survivor, clear and free. She weighs 40 lbs and is eating well. She's very playful and LOVES to play fetch. Hudson is a midget now in comparison. Here's a cute pic of them both taken a few weeks ago:


So right now we are a happy little family. We haven't done any additional home improvements because life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. But for now we are all safe, healthy, and looking forward to the holiday season.

Family update and Our 2nd Anniversery

So I think that miracle grow worked because Scarlett is growing like a weed.
Here she is next to Hudson so you can see in comparison. She's now 4 months old!

She now sits when commanded and knows stay. Which is great because she used to charge at her food and now she waits till we tell her just like Hudson.

This weekend we will welcome a new Niece into our family on Duane's side. We are super excited to finally meet this precious baby girl. We've been going a little overboard on clothes and hair accessories. Bu a girl needs it all right?

July 4th is our 2nd Anniversary, but this month also marks the 6th year we've been together. We have been eating better, working out, and enjoying life as we can. We are truly blessed to have each other and it's great to have someone to laugh with. We are looking forward to a Disneyland trip in October and maybe more home improvements before the end of the year.

Happy 4th birthday (On May 31st) to our baby boy. I feel like just yesterday we got you and now it's been 3 years you've been a great part of our family. Looks like you get a bath and a treat today!!!

New addition to our family: Scarlett

Welcome to our new baby girl Scarlett Jo Thomas. She is a Red Heeler and is already displaying may heeler traits such as following Duane and I very close, Hurding Husdon around the yard as if he were a cow (Heeler is a Austrailian Cattle Dog, and has the cutest howl! We love her. Potty training is underway and she can already sit on command.

Finished :) Cabinets

So looooong time coming... Many things have happened: Easter, new puppy, Mothers Day, birthdays, showers, etc... but we finally got all the doors painted and finished. I have to say that kit was amazing. Can't wait to do the countertops next.

So peeps have asked to see some shots of our cabinet tranformations during our progress. We are on target to have all cabinet doors painted and finished by mid this week so we can hang them next weekend.

We now have all the base cabinets painted. It's already a world of difference. Here's some pics.

Cabinets... In the works

So our first "BIG" project is the kitchen cabinets. After we do these we are doing the counter tops. So above you see the cabinets before we did any cleaning to them.

Next... you see the in process (We have decided to use the Cabinet Transformations kit (light) by Rustoleim)

We cleaned the doors with soapy water per the instructions. We took off all the door fronts and hinges. I cleaned the hinges with goo gone and we will be using the remaining goo gone to get the heavy grease off the cabinets.

Next weekend we plan to actually put on the base coat. I haven't made a solid decision to just do the base paint or also do the decorative glaze. I've gone pretty bold in my kitchen with solid colors. Purple accent wall, black appliances, so I'm leaning more towards just the solid base color. Stick around and see the finished cabinets and what I decided to do.

So I see my friends doing this and decided to share any new home improvements that we embark on this Spring/Summer.

HoneyDo Wish list!:
1. Grow lawn thicker and in more places (why we have soooo many flower beds I don't know but most are going away to make a more manageable place) Seed Down and it's been raining so plenty of water :)
2. Beautify flower beds In Process
3. Sand and paint Kitchen Cabinets (DONE!!!! May 14th)
4. Add new light fixtures and fans to upstairs (and install new outdoor lighting fixtures)
5. Sand and paint upstairs interior doors (Including new fixings and knobs)

We figure it's not a complete overhaul but a good start. Each year we will pick a few things to do. I believe I have some old pics of our house that I will post here when I get a chance. To show you what we have done so far. It's incredible what a little effort can do.
